    Abstract:

Abstract: Polyketides have played an important role in antibiotic drug discovery with most antibacterial drugs being derived from a natural product or natural product lead. Furthermore, the biosynthetic gene clusters for numerous bioactive polyketides have been intensively studied over the past 15 years. This paper focuses on the polyketide drugs approved by US-FDA and takes a general view in the antibiotics produced by polyketide synthase in streptomyces.
